Major: Classics (Latin) & Engineering

Why Classics: For a long time, I felt as though Classics was incongruent with my other major, Civil Engineering. Nevertheless, the idiosyncrasies of dead languages, the vibrant cultural narratives, and the sheer, unadulterated humanity have pulled me back to the Classics time and again. The study of Classics, and Latin in particular, have aided in fostering my love of learning for learning’s sake – and continually remind me that it is more than worthwhile to study the cultural elements that exist not only behind our languages, poems, and stories, but also behind our structures, buildings, and the ways in which we are connected to one another. I have not, nor will I ever, regret immersing myself in the study of Classics.
